About FCCN

The Florida Comprehensive Cancer Network (FCCN) is a statewide network of medical and radiation oncologists providing comprehensive state of the art evidence based care to cancer patients throughout the State of Florida.

Member physicians of FCCN are committed to practicing and administering care to cancer patients based on established care pathways and consensus driven evidence based practice guidelines where there is a uniform consensus or high quality evidence supporting treatment.  In the absence of category 1 evidence as defined by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, physicians have agreed to utilize guidelines supported by Category 2A evidence in more than 80% of their patients.

FCCN originated after several physicians in different geographic locations throughout the state recognized the benefits of providing a center of excellence approach to the treatment of cancer patients in the State of Florida.  Physicians in the Florida Comprehensive Cancer Network are committed to providing both curative and palliative therapies which have been demonstrated to be effective using an evidence based approach.  Physicians in FCCN subscribe and support accepted practice guidelines including those which are contained in the practice guidelines provided by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Physicians in FCCN have agreed to cost effective treatment when equally options are available.

FCCN, uses a messenger model in its communications with managed care organizations, providing a comprehensive network of physicians specializing in the care of patients with cancer and related illnesses.  FCCN seeks to enhance the use of technology in its member practices to develop and apply consistent evidence based treatment protocols for its patients.  FCCN has developed web based software to insure compliance with this approach to the treatment of patients.  Member physicians in FCCN are committed to implementing novel patient education programs.  Additionally, FCCN members participate in educational programs to enhance and increase compliance with physician developed practice management guidelines.  A commitment to formal discussions regarding end of life care in patients with terminal diagnoses is another core commitment of FCCN members.  FCCN works closely with both payors, members of the oncology community and academic institutions to both measure and improve clinical outcomes.
